High School Roundup: Lancers win in extra innings

Three runs in the top of the ninth inning pushed the Londonderry High softball team to a 10-7 extra-innings win over Pinkerton in Derry on Saturday. Miranda Galan's two-run triple gave the Lancers padding in the ninth after bringing the go-ahead run around earlier in the inning on a passed ball.

Ila Brown secured the win in the bottom of the ninth by striking out the side to conclude a 14-strikeout performance. Brown tossed the first five innings of the game before being lifted for a reliever. She then re-entered the circle to pitch the final three innings.

Lauren Misiaszek led Londonderry's offense with three hits and two RBIs. Pinkerton had Alyssa Dimauro go 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Baseball

Keene 8, Salem 7 (10 inn): In Keene, the Blackbirds (2-1) faced a loss on three occasions and came back each time, including scoring twice in the 10th to win it. Marcus Soucia led Keene, going 2-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Cam Chamberlain and Noah Timmer joined Soucia with two hits apiece. Corey Cochran and Zach Morris both collected three hits for Salem (1-2) with Morris adding two RBIs.

Nashua North 8, Merrimack 0: In Nashua, Joe Berman hurled a two-hitter and struck out eight for the Titans (2-0). Casey Lane, Trevor Kelly and Will Brooks each posted mult-hit games for North while combining for six RBIs. Merrimack fell to 0-3.

Girls' lacrosse

Souhegan 12, Londonderry 8: In Amherst, Abby Cranney and Abby Hawkes combined for eight goals to propel Souhegan. Cranney and Hawkes scored four times each for the winners, who improved to 4-0. Cranney added a pair of assists to her day while Savannah Behn, Taylor Clark and O'Neill Galinson each contributed a goal and an assist for the Sabers.

Londonderry, which was only down 7-5 at halftime, got two goals apiece from Sarah Duarte and Catie Derhak.

Bishop Guertin 23, Manchester Central 3: In Nashua, nine players came away with at least two points in BG's romp. Lindsay Hult and Kennedy Wright scored four goals each for the Cardinals (4-0) while Abi Ahern and Ali O'Hara both posted hat tricks. O'Hara made it a six-point day, adding three assists with her goals. Kaitlin Parker scored twice for Central (0-2).

Pinkerton 9, Portsmouth 5: In Derry, Lauren Lisauskas' four goals paced the D-I Astros (3-0) past the D-II Clippers (1-1). Madison Daziel, Meaghan Michaud and Hailey Peredna each posted a goal and an assist for Pinkerton, which got four saves from goalie Dani Martineau.

Boys' lacrosse

Salem 6, Nashua South 5 (OT): In Salem, Alex Weston came to the rescue for the Blue Devils with the game-winning goal. Salem (2-1) was led overall by Nick Gore's three goals and 14 saves from goalie Sebastian Farah. South fell to 0-2.

Souhegan 15, Merrimack 7: In Merrimack, Riley Lawhorn had nine points (six goals, three assists) while Tyler Hall came away with seven (five goals, two assists) as the Sabers (2-0) rolled past the Tomahawks (0-2). Souhegan also got two goals from Connor Holland and 16 saves from John Lohnes.

Track and field

Campbell: Nathan Bazzocchi won the javelin with a throw of 150 feet, 4 inches, and had third-place finishes in the 200-meter dash (24.86 seconds) and discus (118 feet, 2 inches) as the Campbell boys finished fourth at the Pelham Invitational on Saturday.

Luke Hogan's 39-foot, 9.25-inch effort earned him third in the triple jump, and Jeffery Allen took third in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:33.64.

Shelby Phillips was fourth among the girls with her 7-foot pole vault, and Tori Allen had fifth-place finishes in the 300-meter hurdles and high jump.
