April 16. 2018 8:13AM

NASHUA - Heavy fire in the attic of 42 Ayer Road late Sunday night left one firefighter injured and the home uninhabitable, fire officials said Monday morning.

The fire, called in at 11:07 p.m., was quickly knocked down, although extensive overhaul was required, according to a release.

One firefighter suffered an injury that was not life-threatening and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Slippery roads delayed the response slightly, the fire department said.

The Red Cross was assisting three adults who were displaced by the blaze.
