ANTRIM - A heart condition suffered by a 79-year-old Washington driver might have caused his fatal crash on Route 202 on Monday, Police Chief Scott Lester said Tuesday.

Norman Bresett was pronounced dead at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after the crash.

Emergency crews responded to Route 202 near Contoocook Valley Avenue at 11:45 a.m. for the single-car crash.

Bresett's 2007 Subaru was headed north on Route 202 when it gradually veered right off the road and hit a tree, Lester said.

There were no passengers in the Subaru, Lester said.

Although the crash remains under investigation, Lester said “It does appear that cardiac health may have been a factor, yet no determination has been made at this time.”
