Fishers' Guerrero wins weekly honor

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s first Double-A games have netted him Eastern League Player of the Week honors.

Guerrero, 19, the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospect and the No. 3 prospect according to, hit .361 with two home runs, and drove in a league-best 12 runs in the period of April 5-15.

The Fisher Cats are 7-2 and sit atop the Eastern League. Their scheduled game on Monday against Tim Tebow and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies was postponed by inclement weather and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Friday, May 18 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The teams will play two seven-inning games, with first pitch of Game 1 set for 5:35 p.m. Fans with tickets for Monday’s game can redeem them at the box office for any other Fisher Cats regular season home game in 2018.

The series between Binghamton and New Hampshire is now scheduled to begin today at 6:35 p.m.

It continues Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
