MERRIMACK - A Massachusetts man lost control of the truck he was driving on the F.E. Everett Turnpike early Thursday, crashing into the center median and rolling the truck just north of Exit 12, state police said.

Claudio Barros, 31, of Brockton, was heading south about 3:15 a.m. when he swerved to avoid an animal in the road, police said.

The truck crashed, spilling diesel fuel on the highway.

Local emergency responders, state police and state Department of Transportation workers investigated and cleared the scene, police said.

Traffic was delayed on the highway for several hours.

Barros suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua for treatment.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Trooper Wood at 666-3333.
