SOMERSWORTH — The third billboard by business owner Emmett Soldati raises the topic of presidential impeachment.
“Everyone comes in and orders the im‘peach’ment,” Soldati said Tuesday of his High Street coffee and tea shop, Teatotaller.
The billboard shows local model Michael Cummings wearing a wig and makeup while holding a peach bubble tea.
Above the photo, a peach emoji asks: “Did somebody say im‘peach’ment?”
Soldati said the billboard is more nuanced than one recently calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump near his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
“This billboard isn’t going to convince anyone to draft articles of impeachment,” Soldati said.
But it has allowed people to talk more openly about the concept, he said.
Soldati said New Hampshire residents are comfortable with being independent.
“Most people have a unique blend of perspectives,” Soldati said.
Soldati and his billboards have been getting attention for the past year. The first one on West High Street near the Somersworth Lions Club featured Cummings dressed in short-shorts and pink eyeshadow, eating a breakfast sandwich.
It said, “I like my men like I like my coffee. With breakfast at Teatotaller.”
That billboard was defaced.
Soldati’s second billboard featuring Cummings holding a chai beverage resembled a Backpage ad, with nothing but a phone number and the phrase, “Chai curious?”
That billboard was also vandalized.
Soldati has the billboard space under lease until June. He said the im‘peach’ment billboard is likely his last locally as he looks to grow his business.
“Stay tuned because we’re always thinking about and planning what comes next,” Soldati said.
