Rejoin the Paris Climate Accord

To the Editor: I’m a young New Hampshire resident. I feel so lucky to live in a place where nature is protected, and there is clean air and water.
A few weeks ago, I heard a talk by Edward Cameron, an architect of the Paris Climate Accord, at the Concord Library. I can’t stop thinking about what I learned.
I’m thinking about 97 percent of scientists agreeing that human behavior is increasing mean temperatures. I’m thinking about international security, and climate refugees. I’m thinking about water and food security, and the strain this puts on health care. I’m thinking about corporations like WalMart, the biggest employer in New Hampshire, starting to act on climate because of impending financial losses if they don’t.
I’m thinking how commitments from the U.S. and China made the 2015 agreement possible. Now 96 percent of countries have national climate action plans. I’m thinking about how the U.S. is the only country in the world that is no longer in the Paris Climate Accord.
I believe it’s a moral imperative that the USA should rejoin.
