Our Monarchs' family

May 13. 2018 7:22PM

To the Editor: One year ago, we moved here from California. We did not have any family, friends, or even acquaintances here. However, we knew one thing: We love hockey!

We decided to get season tickets to the Monarchs, knowing that it was an excellent team and a good family event. Little did we know, the Monarchs staff, players, and fans would become our friends and family.

The players are amazing people, interacting with them is the highlight of any day. They know our daughter by name and are all perfectly happy to have her tell them about her newest hockey gear, show them her loose tooth, and ooh and aah over new glasses. She didn’t know she was going to gain 20-plus big brothers when we moved.

The Monarchs’ staff members are also amazing. They truly made us feel immediately at home, and we always feel personally valuable to them. Our fellow fans have become our friends and family now, and we all cheer, boo, and cry together as the team rises and falls.

When we moved to New Hampshire, we were following a dream. We wanted to live somewhere genuine, somewhere beautiful, and somewhere welcoming. We didn’t expect that we’d find our tribe of people so fast, nor that the reception would be so warm. Moving to Manchester and getting season tickets to the Monarchs was the best decision we ever made.

Monarchs, we love you. Thank you for everything this season! You truly are our new family.
