College Softball: NHTI eliminated

NHTI was eliminated from the USCAA Small College Softball World Series on Wednesday after an 11-0 five-inning loss to Carlow University in DuBois, Pa.

The Lynx amassed three hits — singles from Danyel McNicholas, Briana Connolly and Taylor Gagnon —off Carlow pitcher Alysa Fairman. NHTI’s Tori Lemay took the loss, allowing 11 runs, only five earned, and nine hits, walking two and striking out four. Three Lynx errors led to six unearned runs.

Abby Stroud homered and drove in two for Carlow (21-16) of Pittsburgh.

NHTI’s season ended at 29-7.

Earlier Wednesday, NHTI stayed alive with a 3-2 win over Mississippi University for Women. Lemay pithced a five-hitter, allowing no earned runs, walking three and fanning six. The Lynx for a two-run double by Connolly and an RBI double by Brianna Whitcomb.
