LINCOLN — Slip on a harness, some gloves and a bit of courage for a jaunt into the Aerial Forest Adventure Park at Loon Mountain Resort this Memorial Day weekend.
Visitors test balance and agility as they go from platform to platform in the forest, crossing bridges, climbing ladders and zooming across ziplines.
There are five courses of various levels, so family members can choose degrees of difficulty. The adventure includes all sorts of bridges, an oscillating walk, chain loops, ladders and hanging wooden blocks, which raise in height off the ground from 9 feet to more than 40 feet.
Loon Mountain Resort will begin early-season operations Memorial Day Weekend, when it will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then Saturdays and Sundays through June 17.
Daily schedules will run from June 18-30 (also from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), with hours expanding to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from July 1 through Aug. 26.
Other attractions opening this weekend at Loon include New Hampshire’s longest scenic gondola Skyride to the summit of Loon Peak, where visitors can climb an observation tower for views of the White Mountains, lunch at the Summit Café, a self-guided hike, and visits to the glacial caves.
Visitors looking for high adventure can zipline across the roaring Pemigewasset River, scale an outdoor climbing wall or rent a mountain bike — or electric bike — to explore area paths and trails.
Young adventure-seekers are invited to flip over bungee trampolines and Bunyan’s Bouncin’ Backyard, a kid-friendly setup featuring a bounce house and inflatable games.
Families can also tackle the giant LogJam Maze, where they can work together to negotiate twists, turns, and dead ends as they race against the clock.
