Candia Police Chief and Auburn resident Mike McGillen good-naturedly eyes the next person to send him into the dunking booth at a previous Auburn Old Home Day.

AUBURN — The good news is that another group of good sports has volunteered to take the plunge in a popular pastime at the annual Old Home Day on Saturday.

“Come try to dunk some of your favorite Auburn friends, including (Auburn Village School) teacher Mrs. Lewis; Auburn’s new finance assistant, Patty Rousseau; (Auburn Police Department’s) finest, Officer Anita Lombardo; Auburn firefighter Patrick Glennon ..., and if you just received your tax bill, you’ll definitely want to dunk this person, tax collector Sue Jenkins,” event organizers joked in a post on the Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page.

The homegrown community event will start at 4 p.m. at the Safety Complex. There will be music by student band Sunday Ave and the firefighter favorites in Three Old guys, along with vendors, face painting, a climbing wall, a petting zoo, carnival games, food, K-9 demonstrations and the grand finale, fireworks at dusk — around 8:45 p.m. (Bring a lawn chair or blanket.)

In addition emergency vehicles, including the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) helicopter — providing it’s not needed elsewhere — will be on site.
