The American Legion Auxiliary recently awarded Hana Testerman with the Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship.

Testerman, a home-schooler from Loudon, will receive $5,000 toward her college tuition.

Scholarship criteria included 50 hours of volunteer service during the high school years and an original essay. Applicants were judged on character and leadership, their essays, financial need and academic achievements.

Testerman volunteers through her church in a variety of community service and youth group projects, and she helps to create documentaries cataloging stories of the elders in her community.

Testerman won first place in The American Legion Department of New Hampshire’s 2018 oratorical contest held at St. Anslem College in Manchester in March.
