Guerrero Jr. placed on DL by Fishers

Fisher Cats phenom Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be idled for a few days, as the Toronto Blue Jays placed him on the seven-day disabled list.’s No. 2 overall prospect, the highest-ranked player still in the minors, was hurt during Wednesday’s 7-6 win over the Akron RubberDucks. He slid into second base after a Cavan Biggio single and then signaled he wanted to leave the game. He left the field under his own power.

“He feels fine, we’re just being cautious with it,” Fisher Cats manager John Schneider told after Wednesday’s game. “Just to make sure whenever he’s back to be full strength.”

“He checks out fine, but with him and all of our players, we’re just being careful and making sure he’s good to go,” he said.

Guerrero is hitting .407 with a .457 on-base percentage nad .667 slugging average. He has 11 homers and a minor league-leading 55 RBIs.
