H.S. Track and Field: Genet tops in decathlon; Allard wins heptathlon

Brian Genet of Merrimack High won the state decathlon with 5,069 points, topping runner-up Fiston Kapongo (5,021 points) of Portsmouth Christian on Sunday at Nashua South.

Kristina Allard of Sanborn Regional won the state hepathlon with 4,080 points; the runnerup was Nashua South’s Sydney Lewis, with 4,043.

Genet showed his versatility by finishing in the top 10 of six events. He won the 100 meters, took second in the long jump, tied for seventh in the high jump, took fourth in the 400 meters and 110-meter hurdles and finished 10th in the javelin.

Kapongo’s highlight came in the 110 hurdles, which he won in 16.01.

The rest of the top 10 decathletes, in order, were: Steven Walker of Fall Mountain; Ryan Kenny of Manchester Memorial; Nathan Bazzocchi of Campbell; Paul Marchand of Nashua South; Thomas Gerton of Memorial, Pembroke Academy’s Tyler Smith; Bishop Guertin’s Jacob Pacheco, and Spenser Sawyer of Windham.

Allard won both the 200 meters and the long jump competition to highlight her weekend.

The rest of the top 10 heptathlon competitors, in order, were Dominique Biron of Bow; Elise Lambert of Souhegan; Emma Wheeler of Inter-Lakes; Zoe Utton of Fall Mountain; Corinne Robitaille of Manchester West; Georgia Dickinson of Portsmouth; Gabby Isabelle of Winnisquam and Crismeily Borg of Nashua South.
