Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO named to 'most influential' list by Modern HealthcareStaff report

LEBANON — Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO and President Joanne M. Conroy, M.D., was named one of the 50 “Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” by Modern Healthcare magazine.
Conroy, who joined Dartmouth-Hitchcock in August, is credited with ensuring the $58 million turnaround of the hospital’s system’s finances. She is featured in the June 18 issue of the magazine, along with leaders other health care systems, government agencies and foundations.
Conroy was recognized for the system’s bond rating reviews and efforts to improve staff engagement and retention. During the first six months of this year, the health system’s margin stood at 4.4 percent, up from -0.8 percent in 2016, according to Modern Healthcare.
“Under Conroy’s leadership, Dartmouth also refinanced $650 million in debt and earned solid rating reviews from Standard & Poor’s and Fitch,” the magazine said.
Conroy was ranked No. 22, after No. 21-ranked Sue Desmond-Hellmann, CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Scott Gottlieb, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, was No. 1.
Others named to the list include Mayo Clinic President and CEO John Noseworthy, Dana Farber Cancer Institute President and CEO Laurie Glimcher and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.
