The Reading Fightin Phils scored three runs in each of the first two innings and never looked back on their way to an 8-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in an Eastern League game on Sunday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

The Fisher Cats, who have not been shut out this season, scored their only run in the eighth inning, on a Bo Bichette groundout. Two Reading pitchers held New Hampshire to seven hits, including a double and single by Gunnar Heidt and two singles by Jonathan Davis.

Jordan Romano (8-3) went 5 2/3 innings and took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits, including homers by Darick Hall, Jiandido Tromp and Zach Green. Romano fanned eight. Deivi Grullon also homered, in the ninth.

The Fisher Cats (44-30), who maintained a two-game lead in the Eastern League’s Eastern Division, continue their homestand tonight with the opener of a four-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. First pitch for all four games is 7:05 p.m.
