BEDFORD — Stevens-Buswell Post 54 of The American Legion recently presented three scholarships as well as two cash-prize citizenship awards to local students.

Alex Portela earned the post’s annual $1,000 Isham-Latulippe Scholarship, which is named for Earl Isham and Albert Latulippe, 70-year members of The American Legion.

Cameron Suls and Dante Gere were each awarded an American Legion Legacy Scholarship, which is a new scholarship instituted this year by the post, meant for deserving students who have a family member affiliated with The American Legion.

Delaney Goterch and Frank Zhou of Ross A. Lurgio Middle School were chosen by the school staff as the recipients of the post’s annual citizenship award. Both students received a certificate, a commemorative medallion and a cash prize. The citizenship award is given out each year at the school’s awards ceremonies, recognizing students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, achievement and citizenship.
