GILFORD – The Road Jam Music Fest scheduled at Gunstock Saturday has been cancelled by the organizer as a result of slow ticket sales.

Two Roads Brewing Company based in Stratford, Conn., posted the cancellation on its web site earlier this month.

Gunstock General Manager Greg Goddard said the decision to call off the festival was made solely by Two Roads.

“We were fully ready and prepared to be their hosts,” Goddard said.

The Belknap County Delegation’s vote to not give the Gunstock Commission authority to borrow a $600,000 bond to fund summer operations was not a factor in the decision.

The brewery, which annually hosts a music festival in Connecticut, wanted to expand the event and offer a second show at a different venue. Because of its relationship with Gunstock, it had planned to hold it there, Goddard said.

Staff at Gunstock and Two Roads had been working for the past month to plan the 12-band, day-long event, but Goddard said Two Roads made the decision to call off the festival over concerns that the quality wouldn’t match its home-state event.

“If they only had 200 people, that wasn’t the vibe that they wanted to bring to the event,” Goddard said.

The brew company, has ‘adopted’ the Panorama Pub at the summit at Gunstock, decorated it with its company logo and memorabilia and serves a variety of its beers there.

Refunds to ticket purchasers including service charges began July 3.

The company’s website said Road Jam Music Festival will continue as planned for 2019 and advises customers to “be on the lookout for a Road Jam Music Fest on the Road at some time in the future.”
