Vermont man charged in wallet theft from Keene convenience store

KEENE — A Vermont man faces a felony theft charge after police said he took a wallet that contained $1,500 and credit cards someone left on a 7-Eleven counter July 3.
Police said Robert L. Whiting Jr., 51, of Ludlow, was identified by 11 people after police released surveillance photos of the theft on Monday. An arrest warrant was issued for Whiting on Tuesday and he was arrested that day, police said.
Whiting was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Cheshire County Superior Court July 19.
