Derry, Weare win Legion games

Three hitters accounted for nine of Derry’s runs and Brady Day shut out Dover over the final three innings in Post 9’s 11-6 victory on Monday. Derry improved to 10-6 and the Dover club dropped to 5-8.

Jacob Unkles (one hit, four RBIs), Frank Gulezian (two hits, three RBIs) and Connor Jenkins (two hits, two RBIs) took care of the offense and Day struck out five batters in three innings of relief.

Mike Packowski (three innings, one strikeout, one walk and two runs) and Matt Stanieich pitched the first four innings for Derry.

Weare 10, Laconia 2: At St. Anselm College’s Sullivan Park, Weare Post 65 combined four hits and four walks in the second inning to score six runs and coast from there.

Leadoff hitter Gunner Hagstrom went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple and two-run single.

Tyler Gendron pitched four innings for the win, giving up no earned runs on four hits while striking out four. Brett Patnode earned a three-inning save, giving up no earned runs and also went 2-4 at the plate with two runs batted in. Aaron Robertson went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI.

With the triumph, Weare moved into third place in District A.
