Paradis in contention at New England Amateur

July 18. 2018 10:01PM

State Am champion Matt Paradis is tied for third place in the New England Amateur in Portland, Maine, after an even-par 70 in Wednesday’s second round.

Paradis is 2-under par after two rounds at Portland Country Club. A number of players, including leader Reese McFarlane of Maine (6-under) and Patrick Frodigh of Massachusetts (4-under), were still playing their second rounds when play was suspended Wednesday.

Tuesday’s heavy rains wreaked havoc with the tourney schedule.

The second round will be completed today, followed immediately by the third and final round as the tournament, originally scheduled for 72 holes, has been cut to 54 holes.

Ryan Tombs of Manchester Country Club was tied for 22nd at 2-over par after three holes of his second round when play was suspended.
