An organization that helps nonprofits with developing strategic plans and marketing will combine with a similar Boston group to better serve clients.

Executive Service Corps of Northern New England is being acquired by Empower Success Corps of Boston, according to an announcement Wednesday.

Joining the Boston organization will reduce the workload, according to Lynn Post, interim director of Empower Success Corps northern New England office.

Executive Services Corps had a lone staffer.

“It’s a big job to find all the clients, assign all the consultants, do all the operational work like back office and billing and marketing, so now this is a wonderful fit,” said Post, who works out of her home office in Hollis.

Nonprofits are charged on a sliding scale between $2,000 to $12,000 to help support the organization, Post said.

Post said the consultants, all volunteers, are “mostly people who had pretty illustrious careers in industry or technology or nonprofits” with many asking “how can I give back?”

There are 25 consultants in New Hampshire serving about 20 nonprofits this year.

The Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust in New London has used Executive Service Corps since 2004, including for strategic planning, a market study and a donor support plan.

“They have a very practical business approach and are committed to helping us succeed,” trust Executive Director Debbie Stanley said in a statement.

Julie Crockford, executive director of Empower Success Corps, said the acquisition means the groups “will be able to pool resources, expand services and help nonprofits across all of New England operate more effectively to meet the needs of their communities.”

Executive Service Corps broke away from the Boston organization years ago and now is reuniting, Post said.

In the new organization, the NNE office will be responsible for business development, client support and volunteer recruitment and management in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.

The main office of Empower Success Corps will handle consultant training and operations, including bookkeeping, contract administration and communications.
