Cam Hujsak clocked a third-inning grand slam and the Goffstown all-stars went on to a 13-0 victory over South Burlington, Vt., on Tuesday night in the New England Regional Little League tournament in Bristol, Conn.

Will Perkowski also homered, a three-run shot in the sixth inning, as Goffstown fought through two rain delays and advanced in the double-elimination tournament.

The New Hampshire state champs will play next on Thursday at 1 p.m. against Fairfield American, Conn., in an elimination game. Both teams are 1-1.

Perkowski also earned the victory, hurling 4 1/3 scoreless inning. He allowed two hits, walked none and struck out four on 53 pitches. Max Oullette completed the shutout, allowing no hits in 1 2/3 innings. He fanned three and walked one.

Hujsak's granny, a blast to left field, highlighted a six-run third that extended Goffstown's lead from 1-0 to 7-0. The frame featured four walks and singles by Ryan Strand and Isaac Morin.

Goffstown, which finished with seven hits, added two more runs in the fifth, one coming home on Morin's second hit, a single.

Perkowski's homer was the key swing in a four-run sixth. Nate Kiah added an RBI single, scoring Patenaude (walk).

Braeden Lambert had a double and two walks and scored three runs for the locals.

Vermont (0-2) was eliminated with the loss.

The game started at 9:30 p.m. — 2 1/2 hours later than the scheduled start time — and was delayed by more bad weather that held up proceedings for about 15 minutes in the top of the fifth inning.
