North/Hooksett 8-10-year-olds take 2-1 record into matchup tonight

The North Manchester/Hooksett Little League 8-10-year-olds are in action tonight against Warwick Continental of Rhode Island in the New England regional tournament in Cranston, R.I. A win likely puts the New Hampshire squad in Friday’s regional championship game.

North/Hooksett is 2-1 in the regional entering tonight’s matchup.

The New Hampshire entry won its first game, 7-0, against Browns River. Vt., on Sunday. James Blaisdell pitched 2 2/3 innings shutout ball, giving up two hits and striking out seven. Ollie Service had three hits, Mason DeVall drove in three runs and Caden Jordan drove home two.

New Hampshire lost to Barnstable, Mass., 5-2, on Sunday. Hunter Brasier had two hits and an RBI for North/Hooksett while Service pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and no runs. He fanned three.

On Tuesday was a 9-6 win over South Portland, Maine, in seven innings. Blaisdell had two hits, Brasier had two hits and three RBIs and Gavin Currier had 2 RBIs. Blaisdell pitched four innings, giving up three hits and no runs with five strikeouts. North/Hooksett scored six runs in the top of the seventh after Maine scored three in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.
