Rochester out of American Legion tournament

Rochester Post 7 was held to just four hits in a 3-0 loss to Southington, Conn., on Friday night, eliminating the New Hampshire champions from the American Legion New England regional tournament in Shrewsbury, Mass.

Southington’s Brayden Cooney homered in the second to give Connecticut all the runs it needed.

In the meantime, Southington’s Ryan Henderson held Rochester hitless through four. Brendan Eaton led off the fifth with New Hampshire’s first hit. New Hampshire didn’t advance a single runner past second base.

Drew Nickerson went the distance for Rochester, allowing three runs on six hits, walking four and fanning one. Henderson got the win, as he struck out six and walked one.
