Surging Sedlar moves into lead at NHWGA State AmStaff Report

PORTSMOUTH — Chelsea Sedlar fired a 3-under par 69 Tuesday to vault into the lead after two rounds of the New Hampshire Women’s Golf Association’s State Amateur Championship at Portsmouth Country Club.
Sedlar, of Merrimack, finished nine shots ahead of her Round 1 score of 78 (six over). The 2014 NHWGA Junior Champion was four shots off the pace when play began, and the Sacred Heart University senior leads by two shots over first-round leader Tracy Martin of Nashua CC (74-75). Derryfield Country Club’s Tara Watt (74-76) is in third place, three shots off the pace.
Sedlar, who is a two-time defending State Am champion, plays out of Nashua Country Club.
Maggie Kennedy of Hanover CC, shot 75 Tuesday, improving from her 77 in Round 1. Mindy Reid of Pembroke Pines shot a 5-over 77 on Tuesday to sit in fifth place.
Sixteen-time state champion Dana Harrity recovered from an opening round 81 to shoot 77 on Tuesday, good for sixth place heading into today’s final round.
Shivani Vora (82-78), Dawn Bellamo (82-79) and Beth Gutteridge (78-84) round out the first nine finishers before a logjam of players are in tenth to 14th place with scores of 20 or more shots over par.
