Three attorneys join Upton & Hatfield
CONCORD — Nathan C. Midolo has joined Upton & Hatfield LLP, at the firm’s Concord office. Midolo practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation and municipal law. Before moving to New Hampshire, he practiced for several years in Minnesota as an assistant county attorney.
Jeffrey R. Crocker, formerly of Tower, Crocker & Smith in Jaffrey, and Norman H. Makechnie, formerly of Blodgett, Makechnie & Lawrence in Peterborough, also have joined the firm. Crocker and Makechnie will continue their general practices in their same offices in Jaffrey and Peterborough, with an emphasis on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and real estate.
Music school appoints executive director
MANCHESTER — The Manchester Community Music School (MCMS) has appointed Piper Runnion-Bareford as executive director. She has performed as principal harpist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Maine State Ballet Orchestra, the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Brockton Symphony Orchestra, and joined The Philadelphia Orchestra as a section member for its recording of Mahler Symphony No. 6. She has served as a faculty member at MCMS, both as a harp teacher and a Suzuki piano instructor, from 2006 to 2014.
Balsama honored by Realtors
AMHERST — May Balsama, a Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty’s Amherst office, recently received the Good Neighbor Award from the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board of Realtors. Balsama was honored for her work with the Amherst Community Foundation, where she sits on the board of directors; the Milford Rotary Club, where she is assistant secretary of the board; The Moving Wall (a traveling Vietnam War veterans memorial); the Veterans Auction; and VeraniCARES, Verani’s social development and philanthropic arm. In addition to being recognized at an annual awards gala, Balsama received $1,000 to donate to a charity of her choice.
Wood joins Board of Realtors
NASHUA — Julia Wood has joined the Greater Manchester/Nashua Board of Realtors as communications coordinator. Wood recently graduated cum laude from Emerson College and holds a bachelor of science degree in journalism.
GZA promotes Guarente
NORWOOD, Mass. — GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc., an environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, promoted James P. Guarente to associate principal in the firm’s metro Boston office. A resident of Nashua, Guarente joined GZA in January 1993 as a geotechnical engineer.
Carey, Griffin join TFMoran
BEDFORD — Paul Carey joined the civil engineering department of TFMoran as a project manager. Carey is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts and has over 25 years of extensive experience in the civil and environmental engineering field.
Andrew Griffin joined the structural engineering team. Griffin recently graduated from the University of Vermont with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
D’Avanza completes clock project
WOLFEBORO — D’Avanza Clock Repair LLC of Goffstown completed the restoration of the E. Howard tower clock on top of the historic town hall, known as Brewster Hall, in Wolfeboro.
D’Avanza has also been awarded the work contract to restore the three-faced tower clock in the Old Groton Meeting House in Groton, Mass.
The clock, made in 1809 by James Ridgeway, runs hand wound and strikes the hours on an 1,128-pound bronze bell made by Revere and Son.
Ellstein joins Nathan Wechsler & Co.
LEBANON — Melissa L. Ellstein joined the regional accounting firm Nathan Wechsler & Co. Pro Association as an office manager in the firm’s Lebanon location.
Her responsibilities include performing various office and business management tasks, as well as carrying out full charge bookkeeping duties.
