The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped to second place in the Eastern League's East Division after falling 3-0 to the Hartford Yard Goats on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
The Trenton Thunder, which beat Reading 3-0 on Saturday, took over first place in the division, by one game. New Hampshire and Trenton have two regular-season games remaining. The Fisher Cats finish their four-game home series with Hartford today (1:35 p.m.) and Monday (1:35 p.m.). Trenton hosts Reading today and Monday.
Both Trenton and New Hampshire are in the EL playoffs; it's just a matter of which team finishes first in the division and hosts the other in the first round of the playoffs. Should they finish tied, Trenton would be the division champ based on the season series head-to-head tiebreaker.
Roberto Ramos had the big hit of the game, a two-run homer in the fouth inning off Tayler Saucedo (4-5). Saucedo allowed those two runs, on eight hits, over six innings.
The Fisher Cats' Jon Berti continued his hot streak with three singles in four trips, boosting his batting average to .305. Bo Bichette and Forrest Wall added a pair of singles each. New Hampshire went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
