BARRINGTON — Route 125 in Barrington was shut down Tuesday afternoon after a motorcycle burst into flames after colliding with a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Police Chief Bob Williams said the male motorcyclist was heading southbound on Calef Highway near Commerce Way. The man driving the pickup truck was heading northbound and had slowed down to turn into a shopping plaza.

“We’re not exactly sure of the details of the actual impact,” Williams said. “We don’t believe alcohol or drugs are a factor.”

THe Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, Williams said.

Williams said the motorcyclist was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and is expected to survive.

Route 125 was reopened at 2:40 p.m.
