Halloween 2014: Trick or Treat Times, Parades and other Spooky Fun


 

It’s all about the spirit (boo!) of the holiday. Get in character, goblins, superheroes and princesses! It’s time to TRICK or TREAT! Don’t forget to say, “Thank you.” Be safe and enjoy, New Hampshire!  Here's the most comprehensive list of Trick-or-Treat times, recreation department events, parades and other community events taking place across the Granite State.

Friday, Oct. 24

Concord - Halloween Howl - 5:30-7:30 p.m., downtown, live music, hayrides, costume parade. Bring your little ghosts and goblins for an evening of trick or treating on Main St.
Hopkinton - 'Halloween Holler' Fall Fest - 12- 3 p.m., Kimball Cabins.
Moultonborough - Recreation Department's Annual Halloween Celebration - Moultonborough Central School, 5-7 p.m. - Put your costume on and join the fun! Pizza, snacks, games, prizes, ribbons and fun for all!  Costume judging is for preschool children Grade 4- only. Arrive by 5:45 p.m. to be judged.  Call for information: 603-476-8868. Cost $3/child.      
Nashua - Fright Night - 6-8:30 p.m., Greeley Park. Free event featuring haunted hay rides, walk-through scary mazes, Halloween caricaturist, bounce houses, and more free stuff.  Geared toward families with children 12 years and younger.
Pittsfield - Trunk or Treat - 6-7:30 p.m., Prospect Mountain High School. The PES PTO is sponsoring "Trunk or Treat." Trunk set up is at 6 p.m. and Treating at 6:30 p.m., starting with a costume parade. 
Rindge - Trunk or Treat - 6:30-8 p.m., Wellington Park. A Rindge family tradition in a safe environment as an alternative to Trick or Treat. Free admission for those providing a "trunk of candy." Otherwise, $2 admission. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for Cars with Candy (at least 300 pieces) - Decorate your car in costume this year, there will be a prize for the "best dressed car." In addition to Trunk or Treating, there will be costume judging, Trail of Terror (provided by the Franklin Pierce Rugby Team), Concessions, games, and other events/activities.
Tilton - Trick or Treating on Main Street, 4-6 p.m.
Wolfeboro - Halloween Party - 6-7:50 p.m., Pop Whalen Ice Arena. Public skating fees apply. Come dressed in a costume that will be safe to skate in. Crafts, costume contest, snacks, spooky tunes.

Saturday, Oct. 25

Amherst - Trunk or Treat, 1-4 p.m., St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3 Craftsmen Lane.
Barnstead - Trunk or Treat
, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Recreation Department to host event at Barnstead Elementary School, 91 Maple St., for ages 0-4th grade.
Barrington
- "Trunk or Treat," 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Located in the REC Parking Lot. Trunk-or-Treat provides a safe and fun way for families to enjoy Halloween! Children enjoy trick-or-treating by going from trunk to trunk to receive pre-packaged candy from costumed car owners. There will be plenty of candy and spooky, fun, scary, decorated vehicles.
Derry
- “Downtown Trick or Treat,” 11:30 a.m., Veteran's Hall, 31 West Broadway. Join the Derry Parks & Recreation Department and the Derry Downtown Merchants as the community celebrates some Spooktacular festivities. Starting at Veteran’s Hall enjoy a free costume parade and contest for children ages infant through 12 years old. After the parade, visit participating merchants for Downtown Trick- Or- Treating from East Broadway to Hood Commons. Dover - “Downtown Trick or Treats,” 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., participating businesses in downtown Dover
Franklin - Free Family Halloween Party. 2 p.m-3:30 p.m., TRIP Center (20 Canal St.) For Children up to Age 12 – must be accompanied by an adult! We will have games, make-and-take craft tables, pumpkin decorating, goody bags, refreshments and MORE!! Come dressed in costume for the parade. Please call 934-4151 for more information.
Franklin - Halloween Parade - 3:30 p.m. - from the TRIP Center to Odell Park.
Nashua - "Fright Night," 6:30-8:30 p.m., Greeley Park. A free event with haunted hayrides, scary mazes, Halloween caricaturist, candy and more. This event is meant for families with children 12 and younger.
Waterville Valley Trick-or-Treat Waterville Valley style! Kids will be bussed to lodges, Town Square shops, and restaurants and can visit a haunted gallery at the Rey Center. More Halloween festivities to take place this weekend.

Sunday, Oct. 26

Auburn, 1-4 p.m., Town-wide Trick or Treat.
Deerfield - "Tailgate Trick or Treat" - Deerfield Fairgrounds. Parking 12-1 p.m.  Costume Parade and Trick or Treat, 1 p.m. All vehicles should be prepared to bring treats to hand out, and to follow the parking plan. For more information, call 603-463-8811, ext. 305.
Meredith - Fall Family Halloween Bash, 5-8 p.m., Community Center. Costume contest, dancing and more. It also features arts and crafts, a climbing all, jumpy house, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin seed spitting contest and more. $5 suggested donation ($10 per family).

Ghosts and goblins of all ages: get your costumes ready and join us for trick-or-treating on Pleasant Street, followed by a parade to Broad Street Park where we will be handing out trophies for the best costumes in Claremont! Come in costume and receive a prize. Movie will start at 7 p.m.

Children can stroll around the south lawn at the Snowflake Inn located on Main Street in Jackson Village and collect goodies from displays set up by local businesses and families. Register your spooky carved pumpkin in the “Spooky Carved Pumpkin contest” - just bring your carved pumpkin and candle to Pumpkin Registration table, fill out an entry form and you could win a great prize! Join the Spooktacular Costume Parade and play follow the leader through town. Stay warm by the harvest bonfire, drink cider and enjoy some old fashioned "Trick or Treat" fun.

Don't miss this fantastic spectacle of ghosts, ghouls, phantoms, stilt-walkers, vampires, brides of Frankenstein and everything else scary under the moon. It's the 19th annual Portsmouth Halloween Parade! Come watch or dress up and march along! The Parade is entirely funded by the community.
