Beaver Brook Falls

A 26 acre preserve along Beaver Brook with a steep gorge and a waterfall.

The abandoned highway leads uphill at a gentle incline with steep hills rising 200 feet or so on either side. There are many views of Beaver Brook cascading down the gorge. About one-half mile up the road, rocky cliffs overlook the falls.

Directions: Right off Washington Street on to the Old Concord Road. Go immediately onto Washington Street Extension. The road ends in a metal gate. Park there and walk up.

Old Reservoir Falls

Location: Wilton, NH

Directions: Located just off the Isaac Frye Highway in Wilton. Park at the end of the dirt road just after the point where the road goes over the stream. Private property.

Pulpit Falls

Location: Winchester, NH

Directions: Located at the top of Manning Hill in Winchester. Drive south on Route 10 and pull off on the right next to the road as you round the curve. The Trail starts on the other side of the road.

Purgatory Falls

Location: Lyndeborough, NH

Purgatory is the name of the ½ mile long rocky gorge that forms a boundary between the towns of Mont Vernon and Lyndeborough. Black Brook runs through the ravine, drops roughly 50' to form the upper falls. Purgatory Brook is a headwater stream for the Souhegan River, and falls into the Souhegan Watershed.

Directions: From Mont Vernon on Route 13, go north on Francestown Turnpike for about 200 yards. Make a left on Beech Hill Road for 2.6 miles and make another left on Salisbury Road. At a T-intersection, make a left of Purgatory Falls Road and park at the end of the dirt road. Two trails meet here; both go to the falls.
