Garfield Falls

Location: Pittsburg, NH

Garfield Falls is a natural attraction known for its scenic observation points and cold swimming holes. A forty foot drop off to the pools below defines Garfield Falls, where years of erosion have worn down many of the rocks and boulders in this section of the river. After the falls, the river continues onward through a rocky passage to a series of small rapids. This section of rapids offers hikers their only chance to cross the river by "hopskotching" the exposed river boulders. Access to the upper portion of the falls and its numerous pools can be achieved by crossing the river at this point.

Directions: Magalloway Lookout tower Road, 1.1 miles to wood bridge 1/10 mile to a gray shingled camp, 1 mile to gated road. 6/10 mile to where the road splits off to the right (do not go right), go 2.4 more miles to the Lookout Tower Road and pass it. Pass two camps on left; pass another road on right. Pass, sand pits on both sides of road and pass another gated road on your left, Pass another cottage on your right, then 1.2 miles to parking area, There is a trail on left with small rocks defining it.
