October 18. 2017 9:15PM

MANCHESTER — The founder and president of Families in Transition will lead the umbrella entity that will be created early next year with the merger of New Horizons for New Hampshire and FiT, leaders of the two organizations said Wednesday.

“Our goal is to feed anybody who needs to be fed and house anybody who needs to be housed,” said Maureen Beauregard, who will take over operation of the new organization. Leaders said no one will lose their job and they will likely have to hire more people.

The combined operating budget of the two organizations amounts to $11 million.

The interim director of New Horizons, Michelle Casale, will return to development director of New Horizons once the merger takes place.

Both organizations will retain their identity, said Dick Anagnost, chairman of FiT.

Granite United Way president Patrick Tufts announced his organization will donate $50,000 to cover costs associated with the merger.
