MANCHESTER — Not So Plain Jane’s Salon & Spa closed abruptly and has listed its Millyard space for sale for $1.15 million.
The salon’s Facebook page changed its hours Monday morning to “permanently closed” before the page was taken down. The company’s website also appeared to be taken down.
Owners Joni and Nick Castrogiovanni couldn’t be reached for comment. The phone for the business, at 155 Dow St., was still accepting messages Wednesday.
Michael Thomas Salon in Manchester said on Facebook that it would honor gift cards from Not So Plain Jane’s customers. A person answering the phone at Michael Thomas Salon wouldn’t comment on why the other salon closed.
Jane Beaulieu founded the salon on Somerville Street in 1981 and sold the business in 1994. The Castrogiovannis bought the Dow Street property in 1999 and moved the business there, nearly tripling the square footage to 7,243 square feet. They later expanded yet again to nearly 10,000 square feet.
The Not So Plain Jane’s Millyard space is up for sale for $1.15 million, according to a listing by Stebbins Commercial Properties.
The city assessed the property for $589,700.
The Stebbins agent couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
The renovated mill condo is for sale on the first floor with 27 on-site parking spaces.
