MANCHESTER - The first day of the sentencing phase of Michael Addison's capital murder trial was filled with tears: from Michael Briggs' widow, Laura; from prosecutor Jeffery Strelzin; from an alternate juror; and from many Briggs family members and friends. Even Addison, who fatally shot the 35-year-old Manchester police officer, displayed emotion at one point.
