Man faces DWI charge after police say his car struck pole

May 18. 2018 10:01PM

PELHAM — A 27-year-old Pelham man faced a drunken driving charge after Pelham police officials said he crashed his car into a telephone pole and drove it into the woods off Simpson Road Thursday night.

Police and fire officials responded just before 11 p.m. to the report of a crash in the area of 35 Simpson Rd.

Officers found Jonathan Aguiar had been driving a black, 2013 Acura ILX at the time of the crash.

An investigation found Aguiar was driving north on Simpson Road when he lost control of the car, crossed the double yellow line and struck a pole.

A passenger of that car was found down the street from the accident. Neither occupant was injured, officials said.

Aguiar will be arraigned June 11 in Salem District Court.

Crews spent Friday morning making repairs and the road was reopened by 2 p.m., police said.
