A state police payroll director is being charged with stealing more than $23,000 in travel and reimbursement funds from the department.
Denise Ezekiel, 49, of Holbrook, has been charged with one count of larceny over $250 in connection with allegedly misappropriating more than $23,000 in travel and reimbursement funds through her role as Payroll Director at the Massachusetts State Police, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office.
Ezekiel is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, April 23 at 2 p.m. in Framingham District Court.
Attempts to reach Ezekiel have gone unanswered. Ezekiel was paid $80,980 in 2017 according to state payroll records.
Ezekiel’s suspension was initially reported by Masslive.com.
The department has been embroiled in several pay scandals recently. Recent investigations include one that found troopers assigned to patrol the Massachusetts Turnpike were being paid overtime for hours never worked.
