PLAISTOW — Police are searching for two men suspected of stealing a statue of a dog named Sid from a local pet care business.

The statue was taken around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from outside Free Dog, located at 118 Sweet Hill Road, police said.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Free Dog said the statue was swiped front the front of a doghouse by two Hispanic men in a silver Nissan Altima with black rims. Police reported that the vehicle had a Massachusetts license plate.

Police said the statue was tossed in the back seat of the vehicle before it left the area.

Free Dog asked for the public’s help to find Sid and bring him home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 382-6816 or email Sgt. Dorothy McGurren at dmcgurren@plaistow.com.
