HAMPTON — A Florida man is facing a first-degree assault charge after Hampton police say he hit a Virginia man with a tire iron during a fight on A Street.
Hampton police arrested Shawn Riley, 34, of Plant City, Fla., 34, for first-degree assault and Samuel Bullock, 46 of Midlothian, Va., for simple assault after responding to a report of a fight.
On Sunday, Oct. 8, around 5:45 p.m., Hampton police responded to 11 A Street for a report of a fight between two male subjects. The men were separated by the time police arrived. According to police, both men, identified as Riley and Bullock, engaged in a physical altercation. Police say that during the altercation Riley grabbed a tire iron and hit Bullock in the head, causing non-life -threatening injuries.
Riley was arrested for first-degree assault for causing bodily injury by means of a deadly weapon. He was released on $1,000 cash/$10,000 personal recognizance bail. The case is being handled by the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office.
Bullock was arrested for simple assault for causing unprivileged physical conduct with Riley. He was released on $2,500 personal recognizance and is to be arraigned Dec. 12 at the 10th Circuit Court in Seabrook.
