Man charged after alleged attack on Manchester officer

November 13. 2017 10:44PM

MANCHESTER — A police officer suffered a concussion during a violent struggle that took place Saturday afternoon after a person fled a traffic stop, police said.

Officer William Reagan was treated for a concussion and minor abrasions, police said.

Manchester resident Pedro Jimenez, 36, was charged with felony resisting arrest/detention, criminal mischief and simple assault. He was also held on an electronic court bench warrant.

Police say Reagan pulled over a pickup truck about 3:30 p.m. on Chestnut and Myrtle streets. A passenger, Jimenez, fled the scene on foot; Reagan gave chase.

Police say Jimenez fell to the ground and allegedly struck Reagan several times as the officer tried to handcuff him. He then fled to the rear of 45 Myrtle St.

Reagan used his Taser, which temporarily stopped Jimenez, but he got up again and ran south toward Orange Street. Reagan tackled him to the ground at the intersection of Orange Street and Chestnut Street, where Jimenez allegedly continued the assault while Reagan handcuffed him.
