GRAFTON — After a month-long investigation, state police charged a 58-year-old Grafton man Thursday with illegally being in possession of a submachine gun.

Danny Coutermarsh was charged with being a felon in possession of a gun and a felon in possession of dangerous weapons — a large cache of knives.

He was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail and faces an Oct. 23 arraignment in Grafton County Superior Court, New Hampshire State Police said in a news release.

The State Police Narcotics and Investigations Unit, along with the Grafton and Danbury Police Departments, executed a search warrant Thursday at Coutermarsh's home at 350 Dean Road. It was there they located the weapons, police said.

Seized were an Uzi submachine gun hidden inside the residence, as well as numerous knives, according to police.
