Police: Man charged with attempted burglary at off-campus PSU housing

January 31. 2018 11:00PM

PLYMOUTH — Police arrested a 40-year-old Bethlehem man Wednesday and charged him with attempted burglary at off-campus housing apartments for Plymouth State University students.

Jarrod Ryan faces three counts of attempted burglary, two counts of loitering and prowling and two counts of criminal trespass.

Earlier Wednesday, Plymouth police released a description, photograph and video of a man who had been asking to enter apartments to check smoke alarms. Police asked for the public's help in locating him.

At 4:20 p.m., police were called to a Russell Street apartment where a man was trying to gain entry. Police said it was one of the apartments the man they sought had previously tried to gain entry into.

The resident recorded the man's license plate number, which led to his identification.

After police called Ryan, he came to the Plymouth Police Department and was taken into custody without incident.

Ryan refused bail and was transported to the Grafton County Jail Wednesday.

He was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Grafton County Superior Court, police said.
