MANCHESTER — A 22-year-old Manchester man was arrested Tuesday night and will be charged with the attempted murder of a juvenile in the city Aug. 27.
Wade Gop had been the target of a citywide search following an arrest warrant issued for him early Tuesday.
Officers with the Special Enforcement Division and Gang Prevention Unit were credited with engineering Gop's arrest after extensive surveillance efforts were made to find him.
Police officers responded just after midnight on Aug. 27 to the emergency room at Catholic Medical Center to get information about a 17-year-old juvenile who had just sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the face.
The juvenile told officers that another male had approached him near Stanton Park and shot him without provocation.
Detectives located a spent shell casing in the area of 207 Pine St.
A witness had described a yellow car speeding away from the scene and police said they ultimately found the car on Main Street, seized it and collected blood and ballistic evidence inside.
Det. Michael Valenti of the Juvenile Division led the investigation that resulted in the arrest warrant for Gop, who was arrested Tuesday night and will be arraigned later this week.
