Store security, witnesses stop Manchester shoplifter

October 03. 2016 10:33AM

MANCHESTER — A man who threatened to use pepper spray on a security officer at a grocery store instead sprayed himself in the face while being stopped by two men entering the store, police said Monday.

The store security officer tried to stop Nicholas Dupras, 37, of Manchester, as he left the establishment Friday afternoon while trying to conceal more than $100 worth of food, police said Monday.

The two men entering the store brought Dupras to the ground. Police said the two men were not hit by the pepper spray while capturing Dupras.

An off-duty police officer who was entering the store placed Dupras in handcuffs until other officers arrived and arrested him on a charge of robbery, police said.

Dupras was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
