ROCHESTER — Officials in Maine say justified deadly force was used to shoot and kill a Rochester Boy Scouts leader who had traveled to Maine last September for sex.
Michael Burns, 54, a computer network repairman, was killed at a duplex on Nye Street in Saco, Maine, just before 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 30, 2017.
Police say he went to the home after answering a Craigslist ad and paid a woman there $100 but she refused to have sex with him. An argument erupted and Burns allegedly went out to his truck and returned to a glass-enclosed porch with a knife.
A man who lived at the house responded by shooting Burns three times. Officials are not releasing that man’s name because no charges have been filed in relation to the shooting.
Police officials say other charges against the woman and man involved in the Craigslist scam may be pursued.
