NORTH HAMPTON — A man from Sidney, Maine, was arrested and charged with possession of 21 pounds of marijuana, which had been found in the trunk of a car that State Police stopped on Interstate 95 earlier this week.

Last Monday at 2:20 p.m., Jakob Lemieux, 27, was stopped in North Hampton when a state trooper pulled him over for a moving violation.

State Police said Trooper Travis Brown did a roadside investigation which led to finding the marijuana in the trunk of the 1990 Chrysler LeBaron that Lemieux was driving, officials said. Lemieux was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.

He was held on $7,500 cash bail prior to his arraignment on the felony charge last Wednesday in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Trooper First Class Stefan Czyzowski and Trooper Eric Willett assisted in the arrest, officials said.
