TILTON - A 23-year-old Manchester man was arrested on Thursday afternoon in Tilton on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin and conspiracy to sell heroin.

The Attorney General’s Drug Task Force, Franklin and Tilton police all took part in the arrest of Christopher Romaine, 23, that followed a short foot chase when he bolted from the car he was driving.

There were 30 “fingers” of heroin found in the vehicle, each containing about 10 grams of heroin, police said.

Police estimated the street value of the drugs at $9,000.

Romaine is being held at Belknap County jail pending court proceedings. At the time of his latest arrest, he was already free on bail for a July 4 arrest for possession of marijuana and heroin and giving police a false name.

At the time of that arrest near Lincoln and Laurel Streets in Manchester, Romaine told police his address was in New Haven, Conn.
