Manchester man, 58, booked for menacing brother with gun during wild scuffle

CARL WINGFIELD

MANCHESTER — A Kennard Road man is facing charges after police said he threatened his brother with a gun after an argument and fight Thursday night.

Carl Wingfield, 58, is charged with felony criminal threatening, simple assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest in the incident, which happened about 11:15 p.m., police said.

Officers were called to 111 Kennard Road, where they spoke with the 49-year-old victim, police said, who told them his brother, Wingfield, pushed him after an argument and they began fighting. The two fell through a screen door onto the front porch during the brawl, the victim told police, before both men went to different parts of the home. Wingfield allegedly went to his bedroom, came back with a handgun and pointed it at his brother’s head while telling him to leave, police said.

The victim ran out and hid between cars while dialing 911, police said.

Police had to use a P.A. system to convince Wingfield to come out about 12:55 a.m. Friday, police said. He refused to let police search his room for the gun, so they applied for a search warrant, according to a news release.
