MANCHESTER — Police who noticed a broken door at a Maple Street pizza restaurant early Saturday used a K-9 to catch the man they said broke into the business.
James Fowler Jr., 35, was arrested about 2:10 a.m. and charged with burglary and resisting arrest, police said.
According to a news release, officers noticed the broken door at Salona Pizza, 128 Maple St., and found Fowler inside hovering over the cash register with a crowbar. When ordered out of the building, police said, Fowler jumped onto the bar, then put down the crowbar and tried to flee. He was caught by K-9 Doug, police said.
Fowler allegedly caused more than $2,000 damage to the restaurant’s Keno machine, a cash register and the door, police said.
Fowler was scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court North on Monday.
