Manchester man charged with DWI after crashing into police cruiser

February 13. 2018 8:52PM

MANCHESTER — A city man ran into trouble when he crashed his vehicle into a police cruiser Saturday night on South Willow Street and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Sgt. Brian Corso — while working a DWI patrol — was stopped in his cruiser at a traffic light at South Willow Street and Jobin Drive about 12:15 a.m. when he saw a car erratically coming up from behind before it crashed into his cruiser, police said.

Officers determined the driver, Matthew Krahling, 30, was impaired and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor, police said. Krahling is scheduled to appear in Manchester Circuit Court on Feb. 27.

Krahling’s Honda Accord was towed, while the cruiser, with damage to the rear, was driven to fleet services, police said.

There were no injuries in the crash.
